The 2022 Honda Passport Trailsport Is A More Rugged Looking Family SUV

The #HondaPassport returned to American about two years ago after an over 20 year absence. For 2022, Honda is upgrading the Passport with a new #PassportTrailsport. The #Trailsport is the first of many new flagship versions of the #Honda light trucks and it essentially gives the SUV a more rugged look on the outside with unique styling cues. The interior is gets slight changes with additional standard equipment, but those looking for even more off-road capability should check out its competition.

  1. Okay, so the Passport Trailsport is really just a trim level that adds a more aggressive off-road look with better tires, but the Passport was already a pretty capable SUV when it first came out. Also, incase you're wondering… at 21:36 that was Joe Raiti driving when the front splitter scraped the rock. It wouldn't be a successful off-road trail without scraping something, right? 😂

  2. Honda is half arseing it again.
They could have easily raised the vehicle with simple suspension upgrades and add some underarmor if it’s marketed as a “ trail” model. At least they made it look more handsome.

  3. Sofyan, great review. However, when doing speed tests, please put it in “S” and not in “D”…….just press the “D” button one more time, to switch to “S”. The whole transmission programming alters into a totally different state (rapid shifts and holds lower gears longer), when in “S”.

  4. So dated and plasticky. Japanese automakers used to be class leading in interior quality but, except for Mazda, they lag compared to their Korean competitors like Kia and Hyundai. Yeah, Acura and Lexus are marginally better but even those “luxury” brands have gone down in quality over the past few years. They are also woefully behind in the EV market too.

  5. I just keep feeling Honda keeps treating it like an after thought. It looks horrible. You would think they would see what Hyundai and do it better

  6. You would rather have a CVT Subaru Outback Wilderness instead? Wtf? Sofan…. come on man now I’m starting to remember why I unsubscribed from your channel.
You know those CVTs overheat, slip the belt, and make the Subaru AWD system pretty much useless, if not completely strand a drive till they cool down or rust transmission failure. Less think a little before we make a comment blind followers will take to their grave 👏🏽

BTW the cup holders in the front are HUGE …terrible, spring water bottles and standard thermos bounce around
    So freeken annoying!!

  8. The Honda Pilot and Passport have always been plenty off road capable. The 2019-22Passport is the same dynamics as the pre 2016 Honda Pilots. It's not boxy like the Pilot used to be.

  9. So, A "trailsport" model? My initial thoughts were, "Lots o black plastic cladding and done." Surprisingly it's not that bad at all. Now only if I could get it in that lovely green exterior color Honda decided was not worth offering. Still, nicer than my initial impression.

  10. Stunning car but sadly made in the USA which is of lesser quality so I'll go with the 4Runner! I had many Hondas and the last one(Accord 6 cyl) was made here, lots of problems with the car. Never had any with the Japanese made.

  11. The 1990’s were more offroad capable, they had Dana rear axles and lift kits available for them, I think they should’ve went head to head with bronco and wrangler with this

  12. I have the 2019 and have been happy with it but I would like to get this Trailsport. My 2019 came with black wheels which look much better than the wheels shown here. I have the white paint and it looks great with the black wheels. Thanks for the review.

  13. Honda really needs to ditch the folding armrests on the seats. Design a regular armrest center console in the Odyssey , Pilot , Passport and Ridgeline. Also Honda needs to update their infotainment systems ! Way to many years have gone by with the same simple boring design!
